Primary Purpose of Role:
Allison Transmission's Information Systems & Services is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to play a lead role in the design, development, and support of network infrastructure solutions. This role provides onsite and remote support for our global network services that include WAN, LAN, WLAN, VoIP, VPN, Internet, Cloud, Data Centers, Security, HA, DR, Automation and management.
This position will be responsible for development of designs and standards as well as providing guidance and support for delivering and enforcing those standards.
The role will lead and guide both internal and external teams to deliver strategic projects and new technology while maintaining standards, optimizing performance and achieving high availability. The role will be responsible for performing configurations and delivery as required.
This role will be expected to have a grasp on technology services such as SDWAN, Collaboration and event services, Network Access Control, Routing, DNS, VOIP, IP Address Management, WLAN, Performance monitoring, and Automation across multiple vendors including but not limited to Cisco, VMware, Azure, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Microsoft.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and document solution designs, technical requirements and technology standards.
- Lead evaluation, design, and analysis of solutions across the Network technology space.
- Develop and present strategic plans, designs, or roadmaps for network solutions that include assessments of the current-state solutions against emerging technology trends.
- Actively participate in the identification of opportunities and/or gaps that exist between current state and the target state, and establish plans, including level of effort, cost, duration, and risks to closing the gaps and/or capitalizing on the opportunities identified.
- Develop and maintain current and future state designs, templates, and models
- Ensure technical support teams are operating in adherence with defined policies, processes, IT security requirements and applicable regulatory standards
- Lead collaboration with solution support and project teams to ensure timely delivery of business value and outcomes
- Deliver Network solutions and configurations as requried.
- Design, install, administer, and optimize information technology services, including upgrades, maintenance fixes and vendor supplied patches
- Establish and monitor information technology performance metrics
- Participate in and provides key input for IT strategy and planning activities
- Oversee and guide personnel in the operation of IT services to maintain the protection of enterprise information and reliability of service delivery.
- Manage the IT operational performance of service providers in accordance with contractual obligations and participate in regular review and adjudication of SLAs as required
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration to drive resolution and prevent re-occurrence of complex issues with support from other IT groups as needed
- Leverage deep subject matter expertise to identify and lead execution of continual improvement initiatives with respect to designated areas of responsibility
- Own and escalate issues through resolution.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering)
- Training and Certifications related to network technologies.
- 7+ years of experience within information technology and Infrastructure support.
- 5+ years of network engineering and support services.
Preferred:
- 7+ years of network engineering and support services
- 2+ years of leading/managing IT network technology and services delivery teams
- Cisco or other certifications.
- ITIL v3/v4 certification
Experience:
- Demonstrated skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and team leadership.
- Demonstrated experience as a technical resource on a Product and/or Project team.
- Experience working with IT service providers in an outsourced model.
- Demonstrated experience in the management of IT operations and infrastructure; and the ability to mature the capabilities across people, processes, and tools
