Network Automation and Service Engineer | ISP Scale - Remote (AEST Overlap) #3130
The Mission
Empower high-volume ISP network migrations and support core telecommunications operations by automating foundational network delivery processes. Your mission is to streamline provisioning, core routing changes, and service monitoring to eliminate manual operations and ensure seamless, high-availability service delivery across large-scale broadband infrastructure.
The Role
As a Network Automation and Service Engineer, you will focus on building software and systems that automate internet and data service delivery across core network operations.
- Network Automation: Write scripts and deploy tools to configure core network elements (such as BNGs, DHCP, and DNS) automatically.
- Service Provisioning: Streamline and automate how customer broadband connections are turned on, updated, or modified across the network.
- Operational Automation: Develop and maintain automation playbooks and scripts to manage technical parameters, core routing protocols, and router configurations at scale.
- Monitoring & Diagnostics: Build automated platforms that detect network slowdowns or dropouts proactively to safeguard service availability.
The Must-Haves
- Experience: Proven background in network engineering and automation within an ISP or large-scale Telecommunications environment.
- Network Engineering: Strong expertise in core routing, ISP network topologies, and router configuration management (TCP/IP, IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP).
- Automation Stack: Deep hands-on experience with network automation tools and frameworks such as Python, Ansible, Netmiko, and NAPALM.
- Certifications: Industry-standard networking qualifications (e.g., CCNA, CCIE, or equivalent).
- Operational Requirements: Ability to work remotely with a 4–6 hour overlap with Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
The Bonus Skills
- Regional Infrastructure: Prior experience working with Australian NBN deployments and architectures.
- OSS Systems: Hands-on experience integrating with or migrating to consolidated OSS/BSS platforms.
- Advanced Monitoring: Experience deploying proactive monitoring systems across large-scale network infrastructures.
Personal Traits
- Automation-Driven: You naturally seek to eliminate manual tasks and repetitive processes through scalable engineering.
- Systems Thinker: You understand how complex routing topologies, core infrastructure, and software tools interoperate at scale.
- Ownership-Oriented: You take pride in building reliable, repeatable automation that maintains network integrity in production.
- Quality-Focused: You emphasize accuracy, standardization, and repeatability when deploying core network shifts.
