Netapp Storage and Backup

Responsibilities:

• Manage and support SAN and NAS environments using NetApp, Dell, and EMC storage systems.
• Perform SAN administrative tasks including upgrades, standard allocations, zoning, break-fix, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Manage and maintain Veritas NetBackup systems including Flex Appliances, traditional appliances, and legacy deployments.
• Lead backup policy configuration, retention setting, and schedule management across diverse workloads.
• Oversee backup storage targets such as tape libraries, disk storage, and Flex storage for optimal utilization.
• Plan and execute upgrades, patching, and migrations for both storage and backup environments.
• Troubleshoot backup/restore failures, media errors, catalog inconsistencies, and ensure SLA compliance.
• Participate in datacenter migrations, storage component upgrades, and enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Ensure high data availability by managing data migrations, replication, and resolving storage shortfalls.
• Collaborate with application teams, system administrators, and DBAs to determine and optimize storage requirements.
• Maintain backup schedules, perform restores upon request, and manage off-site tape storage.
• Monitor disk usage, performance, and storage availability; forecast storage growth and allocate tiers.
• Manage the planning, installation, and configuration of storage systems and perform necessary host-level tasks.
• Deploy mission-critical servers in a 24/7 production environment.
• Create documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles, while mentoring team members.
• Lead disaster recovery simulations and validate restore capabilities for critical systems.
• Ensure compliance with encryption, access control, and data protection standards.
• Manage vendor engagements for Veritas and hardware support including firmware updates.
• Administer backup data replication topologies and ensure operational consistency across environments.
