About the Role
The organization is seeking a highly experienced National Sales Manager (NSM) for commercial pharmaceutical operations to drive the growth and expansion of the it's commercial business in India. The role will focus on achieving commercial targets, enhancing brand presence, and implementing innovative strategies to expand healthcare access in underserved communities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial operations, strategic planning, and sales management, ideally with experience in rural markets and scaling pharmaceutical operations with a sizable salesforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies to maximize revenue, market share, and partner engagement.
- Lead sales and marketing initiatives, including product launches, promotional campaigns, and market penetration strategies.
- Manage the full product portfolio, including product substitution, expansion to new treatment areas, and supplier negotiations to maintain affordability for underserved communities.
- Collaborate with marketing and impact teams to align commercial objectives with broader social impact goals of the organization.
- Ensure smooth operations across commercial and social aspects of the business.
- Lead people and culture management, focusing on talent retention, low attrition, and employee engagement.
- Identify and onboard strategic partners to expand product and service offerings.
- Lead the recruitment, training, and management of a high-performing salesforce to meet commercial goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry leaders.
- Implement risk management, escalation processes, and resolution strategies for operational and commercial challenges.
- Provide insights on market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Campaigns, QA, Pharmacovigilance, Supply Chain & Logistics) to achieve commercial targets.
- Provide input on the development and optimization of supporting technology platforms for commercial operations.
- Evaluate existing processes, partnerships, and infrastructure to identify improvement opportunities.
- Prepare and present commercial reports, forecasts, and performance metrics to senior management.
- Own P&L management and ensure optimal deployment of resources.
- Lead marketing and channel management efforts to maximize impact and reach.
Who We're Looking For
- Proven experience in pharmaceutical commercial operations and sales leadership, preferably with exposure to rural markets.
- Strong strategic planning, analytical, and operational management skills.
- Experience in managing and scaling a sizeable salesforce.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- P&L management experience is preferred.
