Role Overview

The Narrative Head will be the custodian of design storytelling within the practice. Coming from an advertising, branding, or creative communications background, this role bridges architectural intent and client understanding. The Narrative Head works closely with Architects and Design Leads to interpret the core design idea of each project and translate it into a compelling, coherent, and persuasive design narrative.

The objective is not just to explain a design, but to build convictionhelping clients clearly understand the approach, rationale, and value of the proposed architecture in alignment with the project brief.

Key Responsibilities

Design Interpretation & Storytelling

  • Understand the architect's design intent, spatial strategy, and conceptual drivers.
  • Translate abstract architectural ideas into clear, structured, and engaging narratives.
  • Ensure the narrative aligns seamlessly with the project brief, site conditions, and client aspirations.

Narrative Development

  • Develop end-to-end design narratives for competitions, concept presentations, and client reviews.
  • Craft stories that explain why the design is the way it isnot just what it looks like.
  • Balance emotional appeal with logical reasoning to strengthen client buy-in.

Multi-Format Communication

Curate and direct narrative expression through a mix of:

  • Text and copy
  • Diagrams and schematic design expressions
  • Sketches and reference imagery
  • Rendered plans, visuals, and animations
  • Videos, walk-throughs, or motion narratives
  • Work with in-house teams and external collaborators to ensure consistency of message across all media.

Collaboration & Direction

  • Act as a creative partner to architects, not a translator after the fact.
  • Guide graphic designers, visualizers, and animators to ensure outputs reinforce the narrative intent.
  • Participate in early design discussions to shape narratives from concept stage onwards.

Quality & Consistency

  • Establish a consistent narrative voice and storytelling standard across the firm.
  • Review and refine presentation material to ensure clarity, coherence, and impact.

Qualifications

Any Graduate or Post graduate with relevant background

Required Candidate Profile

Essential

  • 8-15 years of experience in advertising, brand strategy, creative direction, or visual storytelling.
  • Strong ability to structure ideas and build persuasive narratives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Visual literacyability to read drawings, diagrams, and spatial ideas (formal architectural training not required).
  • Comfort working with designers, architects, and visual teams.

Desirable

  • Experience working with architecture, design, urbanism, or real estate projects.
  • Familiarity with creative tools, presentation formats, and visual storytelling platforms.
  • Experience in client-facing presentations or pitch environments.
