MYP Design Teacher – Job Profile (IB School)
- A Middle Years Programme (MYP) Design Teacher in an IB school facilitates inquiry-based, interdisciplinary learning focused on creative problem-solving, design thinking, and technology integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach MYP Design (Years 1–5) as per IB curriculum framework
- Guide students through the design cycle:
- Inquire → Plan → Create → Evaluate
- Develop real-world design tasks in Product, Digital, or Architectural Design
- Integrate ICT tools, CAD software, and digital design platforms
- Encourage innovation, critical thinking, and student-led inquiry
- Assess students using IB MYP criteria (A–D) and maintain documentation
- Support interdisciplinary projects with other subject areas
- Prepare students for personal projects (MYP Year 5)
- Maintain IB documentation, planners, and unit plans
- Promote ATL skills (Approaches to Learning)
Academic Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Design / Engineering / Computer Science / Technology-related field
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification preferred/mandatory (as per school policy)
IB Requirements (Preferred):
- IB MYP Design training / Category 1 or 2 workshop (highly preferred)
- Familiarity with IB philosophy and learner profile
Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years teaching experience (MYP/IGCSE/CBSE/ICSE or international curriculum preferred)
- Experience in project-based or inquiry-based learning
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of design thinking process
- Proficiency in digital tools (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Canva, Adobe Suite, Tinkercad, etc.)
- Good classroom management and student engagement skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to integrate STEAM/STEM learning approaches
