Location: Bangalore, India

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, any 9 hours between 11:00 AM and 10:00 PM IST (must be flexible to extend as needed)

Job description:

We are seeking a Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS) Data Specialist to support the Investment Research function at SSGA. This role will focus on managing, integrating, and enhancing cross-asset investment data used in research models and portfolio construction activities. The ideal candidate will combine strong financial data expertise with modern data platform capabilities to enable high-quality, research-ready datasets for investment decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

As a member of this team, the candidate will leverage prior experience and subject matter expertise in investment data to support Multi-Asset Research priorities.

The analyst will be responsible for:

  • Own and manage datasets across equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives, and macro data.
  • Oversee quality control processes, establish new checks, and enhance existing controls to improve the accuracy of data used and generated by research models.
  • Understand and improve the current architecture of data quality systems (inputs, outputs, general design, tests, dependencies, and success criteria) used for research purposes.
  • Understand financial instruments, basic financial engineering concepts, and the data attributes associated with them.
  • Improve, and in some cases build, robust monitoring processes around investment data and perform data investigations.
  • Engage with vendors as needed and evaluate multi-asset data offerings across vendors. Analyze market data coverage for various asset classes based on business requirements.
  • Partner with engineering teams to support ELT pipelines, data standardization, and transformation.
  • Work independently investigating data issues
  • Coordinate and communicate across asset class-specific data specialists, developers, the Incident Management team, and research teams locally and globally.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong understanding of various macroeconomic indicators and their impact. Prior experience handling macroeconomic data or primary/secondary financial research-oriented data is preferred.
  • A good understanding of capital markets, related concepts, and associated data. Well versed in equity fundamentals and fixed income analytics. Prior experience handling index- or security-level datasets is a plus.
  • Familiarity with investment data from vendors such as FactSet, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters (Refinitiv), MSCI, and S&P.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to build simple formulas in Excel and Python (or similar platforms) and study data patterns independently.
  • A basic understanding of quantitative finance concepts is preferred.
  • A self-starter with excellent organizational, time management, and relationship management skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to work effectively with both developers and business users.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Information Technology, with relevant industry experience in the investment data domain or in supporting investment research teams.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in the investment data domain, with an in-depth understanding of fixed income or equity asset class data.
  • Candidates pursuing CFA Level II or above, with experience supporting investment data applications or research teams, will have an added advantage.
  • Hands-on experience in SQL programming and basic database concepts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Prior work experience in operations will not be considered suitable for this role.
