Job Description

We are seeking an experienced MQ Administrator with 4 to 5 years of expertise in managing and supporting enterprise messaging middleware, specifically IBM MQ. The candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of MQ infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance for critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ environments (queues, channels, listeners, and queue managers)
  • Monitor MQ systems for performance, availability, and errors, and resolve issues proactively
  • Perform MQ upgrades, patching, and apply fixes in accordance with change management processes
  • Implement and maintain MQ security including SSL/TLS configurations, user authentication, and authorization
  • Manage MQ clustering and multi-instance queue managers for high availability and disaster recovery
  • Automate routine MQ administration tasks using scripting (Shell, Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support MQ-related integrations and troubleshoot messaging issues
  • Create and maintain documentation for MQ architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
  • Support capacity planning and performance tuning of MQ infrastructure
  • Provide on-call support and resolve production incidents related to MQ

Required Skills:

  • 4 to 5 years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ administration in enterprise environments
  • Strong knowledge of MQ concepts such as queues, channels, message flows, clustering, and security
  • Experience with MQ on various platforms including Linux, Unix, and Windows
  • Proficiency in scripting languages for automation (Shell, Python, Perl)
  • Understanding of SSL/TLS, certificates, and MQ security best practices
  • Familiarity with middleware monitoring tools and incident management
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery configurations for MQ
  • Knowledge of network protocols impacting MQ communication (TCP/IP, MQI)
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IBM MQ certification or equivalent
  • Experience with other messaging systems like RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, or Kafka
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes) for MQ deployment
  • Familiarity with cloud MQ services (IBM MQ on Cloud, AWS MQ)
  • Exposure to Agile and DevOps practices
