Job Description

About The Company

GE Vernova is a leading global energy company dedicated to delivering innovative and sustainable power solutions. With a rich history of technological excellence and a commitment to environmental responsibility, GE Vernova specializes in providing advanced energy generation, transmission, and distribution systems. The company focuses on creating reliable, efficient, and clean energy solutions to meet the growing demands of the world's energy landscape. Through a combination of cutting-edge technology, extensive industry expertise, and a customer-centric approach, GE Vernova aims to drive the energy transition and support a sustainable future for communities and industries worldwide.

About The Role

The Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) Center in Gas Power at GE Vernova manages one of the world's largest power generation monitoring facilities, overseeing more than 900 power plants and 3,000 assets globally. As a Tier 2 Senior Engineer, you will serve as a technical authority in the field of Gas Turbine Combustion Operability and Trip Troubleshooting. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze complex thermodynamic data, transient logs, and flame sensor signals to generate high-value recommendations for customers. This role acts as a vital link between combustion theory, digital analytics, and fleet-wide reliability strategies, ensuring optimal performance and operational stability of gas turbines. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and influence operational decisions to enhance fleet reliability, safety, and efficiency.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent field. A minimum of 10 years of relevant technical experience is required, with a strong emphasis on gas turbine combustion systems, fuel delivery mechanisms, and troubleshooting. Proven expertise in performing root cause analyses on combustion-related events and interfacing effectively with customer personnel during critical outage or trip recovery situations is essential. Candidates should demonstrate advanced proficiency in analyzing high-speed data, PLC trip logs, and combustion monitoring platforms such as MarkVie Controller. The ability to communicate technical risk assessments and post-trip analysis reports clearly to both internal teams and external customers is vital for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Domain Ownership: Act as the global Subject Matter Expert (SME) for combustion system operability, including DLN (Dry Low NOx) tuning, flame dynamics, hardware health, and trip logic. Own diagnostic logic for complex failure modes such as combustion instability, flame-out, ignition failure, and fuel system anomalies. Drive fleet-wide root cause analyses to improve operational reliability.
  • High-Consequence Customer Advisory: Provide data-driven recommendations to influence multi-million dollar operational decisions, balancing environmental compliance, hardware integrity, and uptime. Lead forensic analysis during urgent forced-outage or trip events to minimize restart delays and prevent re-trips.
  • Tier 2 Technical Governance: Support frontline M&D teams by providing second-tier escalation support. Mentor engineers in interpreting trip logs, transient data, and combustion signals to ensure diagnostic consistency and rapid response across the fleet.
  • Analytic Strategy & Development: Lead efforts in translating domain knowledge into new diagnostic algorithms. Collaborate with data scientists to define feature engineering requirements, validate model performance, and optimize detection sensitivity to reduce nuisance alarms.
  • Lean Operational Excellence: Apply Lean methodologies to streamline troubleshooting workflows, identify bottlenecks, and improve the transition from data ingestion to corrective actions, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional RCA Leadership: Lead technical investigations alongside product and design engineering teams. Use forensic analysis of trip data and combustion trends to influence fuel system design, tuning strategies, and reliability initiatives.

Benefits

GE Vernova offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being and professional growth of its employees. This includes competitive salary packages, health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. Employees have access to ongoing training and development programs, fostering continuous learning and career advancement. The company promotes a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity, innovation, and integrity. Additionally, employees may benefit from flexible work arrangements and opportunities to participate in global projects, contributing to meaningful energy solutions worldwide.
