About the Role

The Engineer, Observability, Monitoring and Operational Reporting serves as a subject matter expert within the Technology Operations Center for enterprise observability, monitoring strategy, operational telemetry, and service performance reporting.

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and continuously improving the capabilities that provide visibility into the health, performance, and reliability of the company's technology environment across infrastructure, cloud platforms, applications, networks, collaboration services, and end user experience.

The role translates operational data into actionable insight by building and optimizing monitoring coverage, event intelligence, alerting strategies, service dashboards, health indicators, and operational reporting that support frontline operations, incident response, service governance, and leadership decision making.

The engineer partners across infrastructure, cloud, digital workplace, application support, and service providers to improve signal quality, reduce noise, strengthen service observability, and enable faster detection and resolution of issues affecting enterprise services and employee experience.

While this role is not the owner of incident management policy, it plays an important part in supporting operational response by ensuring reliable telemetry, meaningful reporting, and decision ready visibility are available during incidents, degradations, and service reviews. The role combines deep technical expertise in observability and monitoring with practical understanding of enterprise and end user operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Advanced degree in a related field preferred.

Required Skills

  • Experience in observability, monitoring engineering, production operations, operational reporting, service availability, or technology operations roles in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of monitoring, event management, telemetry collection, alerting, event correlation, dashboarding, and service reporting.
  • Ability to interpret logs, metrics, events, traces, and performance indicators to identify material conditions, trends, and risk.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to improve signal to noise ratio and monitoring effectiveness.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in incident situations and operational review settings.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with one or more enterprise observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Azure Monitor, AppDynamics, New Relic, Elastic, or similar.
