The group you'll be a part of
As a leading global supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and services to the semiconductor industry, Lam Research develops innovative solutions that help our customers build smaller, faster, and more power-efficient devices.
In India, LIGHT (Lam India Global Hardware Team) modelling team supports various business units through a variety of advances simulation techniques covering reactive/non-reactive flows, structural/thermal analysis, plasma modelling, etc. You will be part of this team which comprises of people who work hard, deliver outstanding results, and maintain a sense of humour during even the most challenging times. Our success results from our employees diverse technical and business expertise, which fuels close collaboration and ongoing innovation.
The impact you'll make
With the evolving computing needs in current era of AI, the design of logic and memory integrated chips is becoming complex by the day. This, in turn, requires sophisticated and innovative designs of the process chambers in our wafer fabrication equipment (WFE). In this thriving field of semiconductors, you will collaborate closely with design engineers and process engineers and provide simulation driven insights to improve the performance of WFE used for deposition and etching processes.
What You'll Do
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Specialist with a strong background in fluid flow, heat, and mass transfer under low-pressure conditions. The ideal candidate will possess deep theoretical knowledge, practical simulation experience, and the ability to balance analytical and computational approaches. This role demands clarity of thought, strong communication skills, and a passion for innovation in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute CFD simulations involving low-pressure flow, heat, and mass transfer.
- Evaluate and decide between analytical modeling and complex simulations based on problem scope.
- Develop and validate models using commercial CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, StarCCM+(preferred) , Comsol).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate CFD insights into product and process development.
- Optimize simulation workflows for performance and accuracy on HPC platforms.
- Document findings and present results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical strategy and innovation.
Who We're Looking For
- Experienced professional in applied CFD, preferably in semiconductors. Energy, aerospace, or chemical industry experience will also be considered.
- Strong fundamentals in transport phenomena, thermodynamics, and numerical methods.
- Experience with low-pressure systems such as vacuum environments, microfluidics is desirable.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, MATLAB) and HPC job scheduling (SLURM, PBS).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and work independently in a dynamic setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. with 7+ years or Master's with 10+ years of industrial expereince. Degree preferred is in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute.
