For one of our clients, which is a global consulting and technology company, we are currently looking for a Subject Matter Expert in Mining Operations with extensive experience across both open-pit and underground mining environments. Talent in this role will drive initiatives focused on cost reduction, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance for a leading client in the Indian mining sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and optimize sourcing and procurement processes for mining inputs, including explosives, heavy equipment, and consumables
- Develop strategies for contractor cost optimization, equipment utilization, and mine planning efficiency
- Analyze operational workflows from drilling and blasting to material handling and tailings management, identifying areas for improvement
- Collaborate with internal teams (procurement, operations, finance) to provide industry expertise and benchmarking insights
- Ensure compliance with Indian regulatory requirements, including the MMDR Act, forest, and environmental clearances
- Support data-driven decision-making to enhance the mining operations lifecycle
Skills & Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of open-pit and underground mining operations
- Hands-on experience with sourcing and procurement in the mining sector
- Deep understanding of the Indian mining supply markets and regulatory environment
- Proven track record in cost reduction and operational efficiency initiatives
Engagement Details
- Part-time: 45 hours per day
- Estimated length: 23 months
- Remote with 6-hour overlap with PST
