Job Description

Job Title: IT Engineer Middleware (MCP)

Location: Bengaluru

Department: Arval IT Production / Application Production

Business Unit: Arval Service Lease BNP Paribas Group

Company Overview

Arval is a global carleasing provider operating in 30 countries. It serves professional fleets and, more recently, the retail market. The IT Production Tribe keeps the digital services that run Arval's business running smoothly. The tribe is split into four domains Production Security, Application Production, Infrastructure, and Technical Office each delivering specialised support to the business.

The IT Engineer Middleware sits in the Application Production domain and works closely with development squads, platformoperations teams and the monitoring function.

Purpose of the Role

  • Ensure the middleware and cloud platforms that host Arval's applications are stable, secure and performant.
  • Act as the first point of contact for incidents, service requests and changes affecting the middleware stack.
  • Drive automation, proactive monitoring and continuous improvement to reduce manual effort and prevent recurring problems.
  • Partner with development teams to understand their needs and translate them into reliable production solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Operations

  • Apply patches, configuration updates and security hardening to middleware components (WebLogic, Tanzu, IBM Cloud, AWS, etc.) following L3 guidance and documented procedures.
  • Keep platform documentation and inventory accurate and uptodate.

Incident & Request Management

  • Lead resolution of highpriority incidents across all production environments; conduct rootcause analysis and implement fixes that prevent recurrence.
  • Manage the ServiceNow backlog, acknowledge, diagnose and close tickets within agreed SLAs.
  • Identify repeatable issues and propose automation (Ansible playbooks, scripts, CI/CD enhancements) to the L3 team.

Application Deployment

  • Coordinate and execute manual or semiautomated deployments of applications and middleware that cannot be fully automated.
  • Perform predeployment checks, validate configuration and run postdeployment health checks.

DevOps Collaboration

  • Work handinhand with the DEV Tribe to understand application requirements, troubleshoot CI/CD pipeline failures and ensure middleware configuration aligns with development needs.
  • Provide guidance on containerisation (Docker, Tanzu) and cloudnative deployment patterns.

Proactive Monitoring & Alerting

  • Use Dynatrace (and complementary tools) to build and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerting rules.
  • Collaborate with the Monitoring team to improve earlydetection capabilities and overall quality of service.

Security & Process Compliance

  • Follow Arval security standards (privilegedaccess, change management, vulnerability handling) for every request and incident.
  • Adhere to ITILbased Change, Problem and Incident Management processes.

Teamwork & Knowledge Sharing

  • Contribute to squad knowledge bases, run informal training sessions and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Participate in crossdomain initiatives such as obsolescence management and the Production Cloud Competency Centre.

Required Technical Skills & Experience

  • Operating Systems: Expertlevel Linux administration; solid Windows knowledge.
  • Middleware: Deep experience with Javabased middleware, especially Oracle WebLogic.
  • Containers & Cloud: Good understanding of Docker/Tanzu and cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure).
  • Automation & CI/CD: Handson with Ansible, Jenkins, Bash and Python scripting.
  • Monitoring: Practical experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.
  • Web & Networking: Familiarity with Apache, NGINX and basic networking concepts.
  • Incident Management: Proven ability to lead highseverity incidents and manage ServiceNow tickets.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in production support/operations of middleware or comparable environments.

Education & Other Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Availability to work in a 24 7 production environment (oncall rotation).
  • Eligibility to work in India without sponsorship.
