Mid-Level Architect

de Gournay is looking for a Mid-Level Architect to join our Architecture team in Mumbai, India, working across exceptional residential, retail and hospitality projects internationally.

As part of our Architecture and Design teams, you will contribute to the design, development and technical delivery of highly considered interiors that reflect de Gournay's distinctive aesthetic, craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Working closely with Senior Architects, Interior Designers, the 3D team, project managers, suppliers and specialist contractors, you will be involved in projects from concept through to construction. The role includes developing spatial layouts, bespoke joinery and architectural details; producing comprehensive technical drawing packages; coordinating lighting, electrical and MEP requirements; specifying materials, finishes and FF&E; and reviewing shop drawings, samples, prototypes and mock-ups.

The principal role will be design development drawings and technical details for de Gournay showroom interiors, pop-ups and exhibitions.

We are looking for someone with strong architectural and technical skills, alongside a design sensibility and an appreciation for craftsmanship, materials and beautifully detailed interiors.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Delivery

• Develop spatial layouts, bespoke joinery, kitchens, bathrooms, offices, architectural details, and material and finish specifications.
• Produce comprehensive technical drawing packages, including GA plans, small power plans, lighting plans, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), floor finish plans, elevations, sections, setting-out drawings, architectural details and bespoke joinery details.
• Specify and coordinate high-end materials, including stone, timber, metals, glass and specialist finishes.
• Review and coordinate shop drawings, material samples, prototypes, mock-ups and technical submissions.
• Support projects through design development, technical design and construction stages.

Software Proficiency

• AutoCAD – strong proficiency in producing detailed technical drawing packages.
• Rhino – 3D modelling and design development.
• Adobe Creative Suite – particularly Photoshop and InDesign.
• Microsoft Excel – schedules, documentation and project information.
• 3ds Max + Corona Renderer – experience producing high-quality CGIs preferred but not essential

Skills & Experience

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Architecture.
• Ideally 4+ years of relevant professional experience, particularly within high-end residential, luxury retail, hospitality or a similarly design-led environment.
• FF&E specification
• Strong portfolio demonstrating high-end residential, retail and/or hospitality projects, with evidence of bespoke detailing, joinery and completed built work.
• Excellent technical knowledge of interior architecture, construction and detailing.
• Strong project management, organisational and resource-planning skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to design quality and craftsmanship.
• Good organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and problem solving skills.
