The Team

The Microsoft 365 Governance team is responsible for implementing, maturing, and maintaining the firm's Microsoft 365 governance framework across SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, M365 Groups, Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, Power Platform, and other integrated governance tools. The team manages the full lifecycle of governance from establishing new processes and policies to enhancing and maturing existing controls ensuring the Microsoft 365 environment remains secure, compliant, and scalable. The team also supports platform change management initiatives, drives structured governance programs, and provides Level 3 (L3) support for complex governance and platform escalations.

How You Will Contribute

As a Microsoft Enterprise Solutions Engineer, you will:

  • Governance Creation, Implementation & Maturation
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of governance processes and controls
  • Build, implement, and iterate automated workflows and governance controls using AvePoint
  • Implement and evolve Microsoft Purview solutions (DLP, retention, sensitivity labels, insider risk, data lifecycle).
  • Create and maintain governance documentation, knowledge base articles, guides, training materials, and processes
  • Contribute to the governance roadmap by identifying gaps, proposing new controls, and driving improvements that mature the overall governance posture
  • Governance Operations, BAU & L3 Support
  • Provide L3-level support for complex governance solutions & escalations.
  • Troubleshoot advanced issues across SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Purview, AvePoint, and Power Platform
  • Perform assessments and implement improvements that mature overall workspace quality and reduce sprawl. Operate within Microsoft 365 admin centers (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, Entra, Purview) to carry out governance actions.
  • Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate governance updates, implementations, and maturity improvements
  • Support rollout and adoption of new governance enhancements (AvePoint workflows, Purview controls, admin center changes)
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistent governance implementation across regions. Act as an escalation point for governance exceptions, policy interpretations, and access-related issues.
  • Reporting, Analysis & Insights
  • Build, maintain and monitor dashboards tracking governance metrics, lifecycle status, maturity progress, risk areas, and sprawl reduction.
  • Analyze Excel/Power BI/AvePoint/Purview data to generate insights that drive governance improvements
  • Provide concise, actionable recommendations and summaries for leadership decision-making.

Qualifications


  • 35 years of experience in Microsoft 365 governance and collaboration platforms
  • Strong understanding of SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 Groups, Entra ID, and related permissions and security concepts
  • Hands-on experience in implementing and maturing Microsoft Purview policies, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), retention policies, and sensitivity labeling
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and continuously enhance governance processes, frameworks, and documentation
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 migration initiatives
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation for governance implementation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Proven experience providing Level 3 (L3) operational support for complex platform and governance-related issues
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and change management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and data-driven analysis
  • Strong project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
