Micro Strategy Developer

The Financial Visual Analytics team formed in late 2019 with the goal of transforming Corporate Finance into a modern finance organization, where digital solutions and quantitative methods are employed to generate near-real time actionable financial insights for MassMutual's business leaders. As the Financial Visual Analytics team has grown over the past 4 years, we seek an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Support Developer to ensure our reporting systems are running smoothly.

The BI Support Developer will collaborate cross-functionally to identify issues and deliver sustainable solutions that meet business needs. Our ideal candidate is a problem solver, an effective communicator, highly organized, and is always driven to learn new skills.

You'll be able to:

Business as Usual

• Monitor production support processes and report metrics related to scheduled jobs, data reconciliations, and production data flows
• Triage and resolve issues raised by end users independently and collaboratively with Enterprise Technology and Data Management teams
• Perform adhoc data analyses and provide technical support as necessary

Continuous Improvement

• Aim to learn the business context of dashboards to better understand customers needs and troubleshoot issues
• Continuously enhance and troubleshoot the performance, capabilities, and functionality of BI solutions (e.g., MicroStrategy, Tableau, etc.)
• Identify ways to improve our support processes and existing products
• Adapt to evolving best practices and implement dashboard design standards
• Stay up-to-date on latest technology trends within the BI industry and MassMutual
• Summarize software update changes and proactively identify potential impacts to current products

Teaming

• Be a thought partner to other Financial Visual Analytics team members for the design, management, and documentation of solutions for new reports and dashboards
• Contribute to the team's inclusive team environment that emphasizes open communication, knowledge sharing, and timely solution delivery
• Contribute to a team of technically minded individuals working to establish business analytics best practices that drive improved efficiency and decision making across the organization

Your experience includes:

• B.S. degree in a quantitative field
• 5+ years of experience with data visualization tools including Tableau and MicroStrategy
• 5+ years of overall experience with focus on delivery of Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Engineering, or a related field
• Demonstrated skill in using advanced SQL, stored procedures, and columnar databases (Vertica preferred)
• Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, especially with individuals with varying technical knowledge
• Documenting technical workflows and specifications
• Ability to seek guidance and learn new skills from peers

• Interest in dashboard building with a focus on data storytelling and optimizing user experience
• Ability to deliver complex projects using effective planning, pragmatic approaches, and collaboration despite obstacles and ambiguity
• Experience with markup languages such as HTML and CSS
• Experience with project management tools and methodologies such as Jira, Confluence, and Scrum
