Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning for team members
  • Build and maintain a high-performing engineering team through effective hiring, onboarding, and retention practices
  • Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across the team

Technical Delivery

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of scalable, cloud-ready retail software solutions
  • Partner with Product Management, Architecture, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to engineering standards through code reviews and technical guidance
  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Manage technical debt and ensure long-term platform sustainability

Project & Process Management

  • Plan and execute on project roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery of features and releases
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies and promote agile best practices within the team
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and project dependencies
  • Provide regular status updates to senior leadership on project progress, team health, and key metrics

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, DevOps, and Implementation Services
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborate with other engineering managers to align on standards, practices, and platform initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of software development experience
  • 2+ years of people management experience leading software development teams
  • Strong technical background in modern software development practices and technologies
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native architectures
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and DevOps practices
  • Proven track record of delivering complex software projects on time and with quality
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and technical decision-making skills
