Job Description

Job Title: Manager / Senior Manager (Engineering - CBG Plants)

Location: New Delhi

Job Summary: The Manager/Senior Manager (Engineering) will be a pivotal leader responsible for the complete engineering lifecycle of Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants, from conceptual design and detailed engineering to successful erection and commissioning. This role demands a strong technical background, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to manage complex engineering projects, ensure compliance with all standards, and drive efficient project delivery. The successful candidate will oversee all engineering aspects, manage external contractors, and ensure the plants are built to the highest quality, safety, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Documentation Oversight: Lead and oversee the review, approval, and management of all engineering drawings, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), layouts, and detailed designs for CBG plants. Ensure designs are optimized for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Equipment Specification & Procurement Support: Be responsible for the comprehensive listing of all required equipment, machinery, and components for CBG plants. Develop detailed technical specifications, data sheets, and performance criteria for each item, supporting the procurement team in vendor evaluation and selection.
  • Detailed Project Report (DPR) Preparation: Lead the engineering inputs for the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), including technical feasibility, technology selection, equipment sizing, cost estimations for engineering components, and project timelines.
  • T-EPC Partner Management: Manage the tendering process for Technical-EPC (T-EPC) contractors, including scope definition, technical bid evaluation, and final selection. Onboard and effectively manage T-EPC partners, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, quality standards, and project schedules.
  • Project Execution Oversight: Provide technical leadership and oversight during the erection and construction phases of CBG plants. Ensure all engineering activities are executed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, safety protocols, and quality assurance plans.
  • Commissioning & Handover: Lead and supervise the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing phases of CBG plants. Ensure smooth integration of all systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and facilitate successful handover to the operations team.
  • Quality Assurance & Control: Implement and enforce robust quality assurance and quality control procedures for all engineering deliverables and construction activities.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure all engineering designs and construction practices comply with relevant national and international codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PESO, CPCB, BIS). Champion a strong safety culture throughout all project phases.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams (Project Management, Operations, Procurement, Finance) and external stakeholders (consultants, vendors, regulatory bodies) to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Budget & Schedule Management: Monitor engineering project budgets and schedules, identifying potential deviations and implementing corrective actions to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Potentially lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related engineering discipline from a reputed institution. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-15 years of progressive experience in engineering, project management, or EPC roles within the renewable energy sector, specifically with significant exposure to Biogas/CBG plants, waste-to-energy projects, or similar process industries. At least 3-5 years in a managerial or senior supervisory capacity.
  • Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, certifications in process safety, or relevant engineering software proficiency are a plus.

Required Skills:

  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of CBG plant processes, anaerobic digestion, gas purification, compression, and associated utility systems.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, design codes, and standards (ASME, API, IS, etc.).
  • Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings (PFDs, P&IDs, GA drawings, electrical schematics).
  • Experience with engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Aspen HYSYS, MS Project).
  • Knowledge of equipment sizing, selection, and vendor evaluation for process plants.
  • Familiarity with statutory and regulatory requirements for setting up industrial plants, especially in India.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Managerial & Soft Skills:
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to motivate and guide technical teams.
  • Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, quality, and safety standards.
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on optimizing engineering solutions and project delivery.
