MEP Project Manager – Job Description
The MEP Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of construction projects. They ensure systems are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
Develop MEP project plans, schedules, and budgets
Coordinate with architects, structural teams, and contractors
Oversee installation of HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing systems
2. Design & Coordination
Review MEP drawings and specifications
Ensure clash-free coordination using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM platforms
Work closely with consultants and design teams
3. Site Management
Supervise on-site MEP activities
Ensure compliance with local codes and standards
Monitor subcontractors and vendors
4. Cost & Procurement Control
Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and cost estimates
Manage procurement of MEP materials and equipment
Track expenses and control project costs
5. Quality & Safety
Ensure adherence to QA/QC standards
Implement safety practices and ensure compliance with regulations
6. Stakeholder Communication
Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors
Provide regular progress reports and updates
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (or related field)
5–15+ years of experience in MEP project management (depends on project size)
Experience in commercial, residential, or industrial construction
Key Skills
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
Project management and leadership skills
Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
Budgeting and cost control expertise
Problem-solving and decision-making
Preferred Certifications
PMP (Project Management Professional)
LEED certification (for green building projects)
Relevant safety certifications
