About the Role:
Makuta Developers is seeking an experienced Senior MEP Engineer to lead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) system design, execution, and commissioning across our portfolio of premium residential projects in Hyderabad.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Planning:
- Design comprehensive MEP systems for residential projects (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, HVAC)
- Prepare detailed MEP drawings, single-line diagrams, isometric views, and technical specifications
- Conduct MEP load calculations, sizing analysis, and design optimization
- Ensure compliance with Indian Standards (IS codes), National Building Code (NBC), and local municipal regulations
- Coordinate MEP systems with architectural and structural designs (clash detection & resolution)
Project Execution & Quality:
- Supervise MEP system installation on-site (wiring, conduits, panels, lighting, DG sets, plumbing, etc.)
- Conduct regular on-site inspections and quality audits
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost estimates
- Manage vendor selection, procurement, and performance tracking
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality benchmarks
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for teams
Testing, Commissioning & Handover:
- Plan and oversee comprehensive MEP testing (electrical continuity, insulation resistance, earthing, water pressure tests)
- Supervise DG set load testing, solar system functionality testing
- Conduct fire safety system and emergency lighting verification
- Prepare commissioning reports and as-built drawings
- Obtain NOC from electrical inspector and other regulatory authorities
- Prepare operation & maintenance (O&M) manuals for building operations team
- Conduct client handover and system explanation
Coordination & Stakeholder Management:
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other consultants
- Manage contractor relationships and SLAs
- Resolve on-site MEP challenges in real-time
- Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders
- Prepare monthly progress reports and status updates
Cost Management:
- Manage MEP budget and ensure cost control (variance <5%)
- Identify and implement cost optimization strategies
- Negotiate with vendors and contractors
- Track project expenses and billing
Required Qualifications (Mandatory):
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech)
- 4 years of hands-on experience in MEP engineering (Mandatory)
- High-rise residential or commercial project background (Mandatory)
- Proven track record in: MEP system design and installation
- HVAC systems design and execution
- Mechanical systems (pipes, fittings, accessories)
- Electrical systems (LT/HT, panels, lighting, DG sets)
- Plumbing systems (sanitary, water supply, drainage)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Advanced level)
- Knowledge of Indian Standards (IS 1646, IS 800, IS 3043, IS 1692, IS 4722, IS 3955)
- Understanding of National Building Code (NBC) compliance
- Experience with cost estimation and project budgeting
- Team leadership and contractor management experience
