Role Description The MEP Project Engineer at Dotand will oversee Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems design and execution for architecture and design projects. This full-time, on-site role based in Chennai involves coordinating with architects, structural engineers, and consultants to develop MEP layouts, specifications, and drawings that align with project requirements and local regulations. The engineer will review designs for technical accuracy, support value engineering, and ensure integration of MEP systems with architectural and interior design intent. Daily responsibilities include monitoring site progress, resolving technical issues, conducting inspections, and supporting testing and commissioning. The role also requires collaborating with contractors and vendors, preparing project documentation, and contributing to project planning, scheduling, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and supervise MEP works at project sites.
Review MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical documents.
Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
Supervise installation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, and other MEP services.
Ensure MEP works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of MEP activities.
Prepare and maintain project schedules, progress reports, checklists, and site documentation.
Coordinate with the design team to resolve technical and site-related issues.
Review shop drawings, material submittals, technical specifications, and method statements.
Conduct regular site inspections and ensure proper quality and workmanship.
Identify clashes between MEP, architectural, structural, and interior works and coordinate for timely resolution.
Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspection, and handover of MEP systems.
Monitor material requirements and coordinate with procurement and vendors.
Check contractor work measurements and assist with BOQ and billing verification.
Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and project requirements.
Attend project meetings and provide updates on MEP progress and technical issues.
Coordinate snagging, rectification, and final handover activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's/Diploma degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
5–8 years of relevant experience in MEP project execution and coordination.
Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction practices.
Experience in commercial, residential, interior fit-out, or large-scale building projects is preferred.
Good knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office.
Knowledge of MEP coordination/BIM tools such as Revit MEP or Navisworks will be an added advantage.
Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple site activities and coordinate with different stakeholders.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
