Job Description

Job Title: MEP Engineer

Location: Mumbai, Pune

Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in MEP projects.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MEP Engineer to oversee and coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing designs, supervising installations, ensuring compliance with specifications, managing documentation, and supporting project execution from planning through commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design & Technical Review

Review MEP plans, specifications, and tender drawings for compliance with design intent.

Prepare plans, detailed drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems.

Review contractor shop drawings and material submittals within the contractual timeframe (typically 10 working days).

Coordinate mechanical drawings with structural and electrical disciplines.

Provide technical clarifications and solutions for on-site coordination issues.

Analyze mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering problems and formulate solutions.

2. Project Coordination & Management

Manage day-to-day activities of the MEP team.

Liaise with architects, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.

Review contractor installation methods and proposed subcontractors.

Monitor contractor construction schedules related to MEP services and report progress to the Project Director.

Participate in risk assessment workshops and report project-related risks.

Advise on LEED requirements and ensure necessary documentation is maintained.

3. Site Supervision & Quality Control

Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings and specifications.

Witness pressure testing, duct leakage testing, and other required first-fix and final testing procedures.

Review testing and commissioning procedures and results.

Maintain defect lists and monitor remedial actions.

Conduct final snagging inspections and prepare defect reports.

Be available for off-site inspection of equipment and materials when required.

4. Health, Safety & Compliance

Monitor and enforce health and safety standards on-site.

Report safety violations and stop unsafe work practices if necessary.

Ensure all MEP documentation is properly filed and logged in accordance with project requirements.

5. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare draft site/engineer instructions related to mechanical services.

Review and comment on Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.

Provide technical advice regarding variable cost claims.

Attend project meetings and deliver technical presentations as required.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

2-5 years of relevant experience in MEP projects.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and electrical systems.

Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and Construction Project Management software.

Familiarity with LEED standards (preferred).

Strong communication and presentation skills.
