Job Description: Design Head (Fire & Life Safety / MEP)
Designation: Design Head
Reporting To: President
Role Overview
The Design Head will lead the complete Design & Engineering function for Fire & Life Safety systems, ensuring NFPA compliance, technical excellence, timely deliverables, and effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Lead end-to-end design & engineering activities for Fire & Life Safety projects
- Ensure all designs comply with NFPA and applicable codes/standards
- Review and release drawings, calculations, and technical documents within timelines
- Provide technical support to Projects, Site Engineers, and Clients
- Support presales with accurate technical inputs and presentations
- Ensure timely preparation of As-Built drawings and project handover documents
Strategy & Process Improvement
- Align design planning with project schedules and supply chain to reduce lead time
- Drive process improvements, cost optimization, and quality control
- Assist management in short-term and long-term design strategy and technology planning
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and train the design team (minimum 2 trainings per quarter)
- Coordinate with vendors, consultants, contractors, and clients
- Ensure clear JD, KRA/KPI understanding and timely performance reviews
MIS & Compliance
- Ensure 100% design compliance and accurate MIS/reporting
- Handle internal escalations related to design documentation and observations
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Mandatory: BIM Modelling, Revit, Fire Fighting systems (Sprinklers, Hydrants)
- Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and Fire system design
Experience
- 1015 years total experience, with minimum 5+ years in a Design Head / Lead role
- Mandatory: Experience in Fire Industry
- Preferred: Background from MEP Consultancy
