The role ensures that drawings, calculations, and technical submissions are aligned, clash-free, code-compliant, and fully coordinated with architectural and structural designs. Acts as the central technical link between design teams, consultants, contractors, and project management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Coordination & Integration
- Coordinate all MEP disciplines (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Safety, ELV, BMS) to produce unified, clash-free designs.
- Review and validate design drawings, schematics, load calculations, sizing sheets, BOQs, and engineering documents.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (IS/NBC/NFPA/ASHRAE/IEC/TIA etc.).
- Facilitate design workshops with consultants and internal teams.
2. BIM & Drawing Management
- Review MEP coordination layouts, sections, and 3D BIM models (if applicable).
- Identify clashes and guide BIM modelers/draftsmen to resolve them.
- Review shop drawings and ensure smooth conversion from design intent to construction detail.
3. Technical Review & Approvals
- Prepare and review technical submittals, method statements, and material approvals.
- Coordinate clarifications with consultants, raise RFIs, track responses, and update drawings.
- Support tender preparation by reviewing scope, specifications, and quantities.
4. Interface Coordination
- Act as the focal point between architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
- Ensure MEP requirements (shaft sizes, service corridors, openings, plant room layouts) are incorporated in civil/architectural designs.
- Coordinate interfaces between electrical panels, HVAC equipment, pumps, fire alarm systems, IBMS, and plumbing networks.
5. Documentation & Version Control
- Maintain drawing/document logs, track revisions, and ensure the latest design information is circulated.
- Prepare coordination reports, meeting minutes, and design review notes.
- Assist in preparing compliance statements, design basis reports (DBR), and as-built documentation.
6. Design to Execution Support
- Provide engineering support to site teams during installation and commissioning.
- Review site conditions, identify design gaps, and propose engineering solutions.
- Participate in testing & commissioning coordination, ensuring design requirements are met.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of all MEP systems and their interdependencies.
- Ability to read drawings across all disciplines — architectural, structural, and services.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM (preferred), MS Office, and engineering calculation tools.
- Excellent communication, technical presentation, and coordination skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
- 8–12 years of experience in MEP design coordination or consultancy roles.
- Experience in high-rise Residential/ Commercial buildings, Malls & Multiplexes, hospitals, industrial plants, data centers, airports, or metro/rail stations is a strong advantage.
Salary - 70,000/- to 80,000/- per month.
