Role Summary

Join athenahealth as a Member of Technical Staff based in Chennai, India, working in a hybrid environment. This role focuses on developing scalable Health Plan Data Exchange solutions and Medical Record Release that enhance healthcare interoperability. The position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Team Summary

We are an agile, cross-functional team focused on building scalable solutions for Health Plan Data Exchange and Medical Record Release, driving better healthcare interoperability. Payers leverage our solutions for Quality Measures and Risk Adjustment programs. We foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and technical excellence. You'll partner with seasoned engineers, product managers, and architects to deliver high-impact solutions that enable seamless health plan data exchange and enhance patient care coordination across healthcare ecosystems.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Perl.
  • Implement solutions that support Health Plan Data Exchange and MRR workflows.
  • Collaborate with Internal/ cross functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable software.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration to ensure software quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to system performance and reliability.
  • Document the development processes, and technical specifications.
  • Support deployment, write unite test, monitoring, and maintenance of applications in a hybrid environment.

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Support performance tuning and optimization efforts.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Help improve development workflows and automation processes.
  • Engage in cross-team initiatives to enhance platform capabilities and integration.

Expected Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Perl programming languages.
  • Experience with building scalable backend services and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exposure to AI-driven development tools and practicesincluding developer copilots, intelligent code assistance, AI-supported testing, automated documentation generation, or productivity workflows enabled by AIis an added advantage.
