Job Description

Inviting passionate MBBSdoctors to serve vulnerable communities in Bengaluru.

We at Azim Premji Foundation are working to improve the health of the underserved communities living in urban settlements of Bengaluru.

Since 2022, we have started an integrated community health program across 5 locations in Bengaluru. At each location, we have our Health Centre and a team of Community Health Workers managed by a local not-for-profit organisation.

  1. The Health Centres (with a team of doctors, nurses, a pharmacist and a lab technician) provide primary health services to the patients targeting a cluster of urban settlements in its neighborhood
  2. The Community Health Workers support the patients and the target community at large on health awareness and health education, community-level screening, follow-ups etc. in coordination with the Health Centre teams
  3. The team also collaborates with the local public health systems to facilitate the necessary services and benefits to the communities

As a doctor, you will be on the front lines, working directly with the communities to:

  1. Handle medical operations, guide and mentor the community health workers
  2. Conduct health screenings, provide primary clinical services, and connect the patients to secondary/tertiary hospitals
  3. Educate community members on health seeking behavior, preventive health practices, nutrition, hygiene etc.
  4. Collaborate with local government and not-for-profit organisations to facilitate access to holistic health interventions

This is challenging but tremendously fulfilling work. You will be making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it the most.

To succeed in this role (Medical Officer), we expect you to have:

  1. An unwavering commitment to serve the communities, and the resilience to work full-time (6 days a week, Mon-Sat) in an evolving environment
  2. An MBBS degree and KMC registration
  3. Fluency in Kannada and Hindi language is preferred, as is previous experience working in underserved communities

Work location: Health Centre and communities in:

  1. Hebbal
  2. Kengeri
