Job Overview

We are seeking a Junior Medical Gastroenterologist to join Spandana Hospital's team in Bangalore. This is a Full-Time position, suitable for candidates with 1 to 3 years of experience in gastroenterology. As a vital member of our medical staff, the successful candidate will contribute to delivering exemplary patient care in the field of gastroenterology and digestive health.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) (Mandatory skill) to diagnose and manage complex biliary and pancreatic disorders with high proficiency and care.
  • Abdominal Ultrasound (Mandatory skill) with the ability to conduct detailed analyses of abdominal organs for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Colonoscopy (Mandatory skill) essential for screening, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention in lower gastrointestinal tract disorders.
  • Liver Biopsy experience required to evaluate and diagnose liver diseases, ensuring precise specimen collection and patient safety during the procedure.
  • Acute Care expertise to manage urgent gastroenterological cases effectively in high-pressure hospital settings, ensuring quick and accurate clinical decisions.
  • Polypectomy skills are necessary for the identification, removal, and management of polyps, effectively reducing cancer risks and improving patient outcomes.
  • Capsule Endoscopy familiarity to perform and interpret non-invasive imaging of the small intestine, aiding in the diagnosis of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding and pathology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to clearly explain procedures, engage effectively with patients, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and maintain accurate medical records.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct ERCP procedures to diagnose and treat biliary and pancreatic conditions, ensuring patient safety and best outcomes in every intervention.
  • Perform abdominal ultrasounds and accurately interpret results for the diagnosis and ongoing care of gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Carry out colonoscopies and polypectomies for both screening and therapeutic purposes, following high standards of infection control and patient care.
  • Evaluate and conduct liver biopsies, interpreting findings to develop effective management plans for patients with liver diseases.
  • Manage acute gastroenterological presentations, providing timely care and intervention in emergency and critical care scenarios.
  • Utilize capsule endoscopy techniques for comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of small bowel conditions as required.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, contribute to clinical audits, and engage in continuous medical education for professional growth.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding procedures, risks, recovery, and ongoing management of gastrointestinal diseases.
