Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Medical Coding Trainer role based in Kochi. The Medical Coding Trainer will design and deliver structured training programs in medical coding, health information management, and related areas for learners at various proficiency levels. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and updating training materials, conducting classroom sessions, workshops, and practical exercises, and evaluating learner performance through assessments and feedback. The trainer will also stay current with coding guidelines and industry standards, incorporate real-case scenarios into lessons, and mentor learners on best practices and professional readiness. Collaboration with academic coordinators and other trainers to continuously improve course content and learner outcomes is an important part of this role.
Qualifications
- Strong medical coding foundation, with experience in Medical Coding and familiarity with Medical Terminology.
- Background in Health Information Management and understanding of clinical documentation and healthcare workflows.
- Relevant credentials such as RHIT or equivalent professional certifications in health information or coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) are highly desirable.
- Prior Coding Experience, ideally in a healthcare or revenue cycle setting, with exposure to current coding standards and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Health Information Management, Life Sciences, Nursing, Allied Health, or a related field.
- Proven experience in training, teaching, or mentoring adults, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, structured manner.
- Strong communication, presentation, and classroom management skills, with a learner-focused approach.
- Comfort with basic digital tools and learning platforms to deliver and track training.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and healthcare regulations.
