We are seeking a skilled Medical Coder specializing in surgery coding and quality analysis to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of experience in medical coding, focusing on surgical procedures, with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance in coding practices.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure accurate coding of surgical procedures.
- Assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures according to ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding queries.
- Conduct quality audits of coding practices to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Stay updated with the latest coding guidelines and regulations pertaining to surgical coding.
- Provide training and support to junior coding staff and peers.
- Prepare reports on coding accuracy and compliance for management review.
Skills and Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology related to surgical procedures.
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and medical coding software.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
