Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Coder – ED/EM/Surgery to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses for emergency department, emergency medicine and surgery services. The candidate should have 1-5 years of experience in the job market context of India, and be familiar with ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding systems.
Job Responsibilities:
For Surgery Coding:
- Review and assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for various surgical procedures, including inpatient, outpatient, and specialized surgeries.
- Apply correct modifiers, bundling/unbundling procedures, and ensure proper documentation.
- Ensure compliance with global surgery package rules and payer-specific requirements.
- Work with the clinical team to clarify any unclear documentation to ensure accurate billing.
For Home Health Care (HHC) Coding:
- Review medical records for Home Health Care services and assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
- Ensure correct OASIS documentation and compliance with CMS regulations for home health coding.
- Review patient conditions and treatments to accurately code for services, including physical therapy, nursing, and other home health care visits.
- Maintain Medicare and Medicaid compliance in all documentation and claims submission.
For Ancillary Services Coding:
- Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for ancillary services like diagnostic tests (labs, radiology), physical therapy, DME, and outpatient services.
- Ensure accurate coding for laboratory, radiology, and rehabilitation services.
- Validate and review documentation to ensure it meets coding and reimbursement standards.
- Stay updated with payer-specific regulations for billing ancillary services.
For Medical Coding QA (Quality Assurance):
- Conduct audits on medical codes for accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Review coding and billing errors, providing feedback and corrective actions to improve overall coding accuracy.
- Assist with the training of junior coders and share knowledge on best practices and guidelines.
- Generate QA reports and collaborate with the coding team to identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure coding practices align with HIPAA, payer-specific, and legal requirements.
Key Requirements:
- Certification: CPC, CCS, CIC, or relevant certification (Preferred). Non-certified candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Experience: 1+ years in Surgery Coding, HHC Coding, Ancillary Services Coding, or Medical Coding QA (Trainee positions available for freshers).
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and understanding of coding guidelines for surgery, home health, and ancillary services.
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems like Epic, 3M, Meditech, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and compliance with coding standards and regulations.
- Knowledge of coding audits, quality control, and documentation best practices.
