Medical Coder - IPDRG/Surgery

Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Coder – ED/EM/Surgery to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses for emergency department, emergency medicine and surgery services. The candidate should have 1-5 years of experience in the job market context of India, and be familiar with ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding systems.

Job Responsibilities:

For IPDRG Coding:

• Assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for inpatient services according to IPDRG guidelines.
• Accurately determine DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) for inpatient admissions based on clinical documentation and coding standards.
• Ensure compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations and payer-specific guidelines.
• Review medical records for diagnosis, procedures, and co-morbidities to optimize the DRG assignment.
• Stay updated with coding updates and revisions related to inpatient coding.

For Surgery Coding:

• Assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for various surgical procedures (including inpatient and outpatient surgeries).
• Accurately code for pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative surgical care, including anesthesia and pathology.
• Ensure the appropriate use of modifiers and accurate bundle/unbundle procedures for proper reimbursement.
• Collaborate with surgeons and clinical teams to ensure proper documentation and correct coding.
• Stay current with global surgery package rules, CPT updates, and payer policies.

Key Requirements:

• Certification: CPC, CCS, CIC, or equivalent certification (Preferred). Non-certified candidates are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience: 1+ years of experience in IPDRG Coding, Surgery Coding, or Inpatient Coding (Trainee positions available for freshers).
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes for surgical procedures, inpatient coding, and DRG assignments.
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, 3M, etc.
• Knowledge of coding compliance, medical necessity, and payer-specific regulations.
• Ability to analyze clinical documentation for accurate surgical and inpatient coding.
