About Neocambrian
We're a pre-launch, venture backed company working on scaling data for Physical AI. We're actively hiring for Ground Control - our most mission critical operations role. You will work directly with the CEO to build the operational substrate the company runs on - from vendor negotiations & compliance, to investor relations and payments.
About the Role:
In this role, you will take end-to-end responsibility for design, architecture, and development of our wearable data capture devices. This position requires a robust foundation in kinematics, actuators, sensor integration, biomechanics, and ergonomics to ensure the seamless and accurate translation of human motion into high-fidelity robotic manipulation data
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Product Development: Lead the design, prototyping, and system integration of proof-of-concepts and iterative prototypes, driving the development of a fully shippable product from scratch
- Biomechanical Mapping: Master the kinematic and dynamic equivalence between wearable devices and human anatomy to capture highly relevant, physically accurate manipulation data
- Engineering Lifecycle & Ownership: Drive a systematic approach to architecture selection, hands-on experimentation, product design, and program management, taking uncompromising end-to-end ownership from concept to functional prototype.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate seamlessly across diverse teams, bridging the gap between Mechanical, Electrical, AI, and non-technical subsystems.
- Data Strategy: Develop a deep understanding of data for robotics, including its transferability and application across various robotic systems and AI models.
Requirements
- Mechanical Design: 3YOE in 3D modeling platforms (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, CATIA, etc.) for complex assemblies, packaging and kinematic verification.
- Prototyping & Manufacturing: Strong hands-on experience in rapid prototyping with a sufficient understanding of standard manufacturing processes and DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
- Actuator Integration: Oversee the selection, specification and integration of high-performance actuators and micro-drivetrains tailored for strict size and weight constraints.
Good to have:
- Wearables Experience: Proven background in robotics, wearable technology or biomechanics components
- MoCap Familiarity: Prior exposure to or experience building motion capture devices, optical tracking, or IMU-based capture systems
- Theoretical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of forward/inverse kinematics and multi-body dynamics..
- Advanced CAD/CAM: Surface/Form modelling, CAM for 3DP, CNC and solid DFM principles.
