Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented Technical Writer with experience in the mechanical or manufacturing domain to create clear, accurate, and user-friendly technical documentation. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of mechanical concepts, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation standards.
This role will work closely with mechanical engineers, product teams, and manufacturing teams to develop high-quality technical content such as manuals, process documents, SOPs, and technical reports.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Documentation Development
- Create, edit, and maintain technical documents such as:
- User manuals
- Installation guides
- Maintenance manuals
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Assembly instructions
- Product documentation
- Convert complex mechanical and engineering information into clear and easy-to-understand content.
2. Collaboration with Engineering Teams
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, design teams, and manufacturing teams to gather technical information.
- Understand mechanical drawings, CAD designs, and product specifications.
- Participate in technical meetings to collect product and process details.
3. Manufacturing & Mechanical Documentation
- Develop documentation related to manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, assembly, and production workflows.
- Create step-by-step process documentation for shop floor and production teams.
- Update documents when product designs or manufacturing processes change.
4. Content Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all documentation follows company standards and technical writing guidelines.
- Maintain consistency in formatting, terminology, and style.
- Review and edit existing documents to improve clarity and accuracy.
- Support documentation related to quality standards and compliance requirements.
5. Document Management
- Organize and maintain documentation in document management systems.
- Track document revisions and version control.
- Ensure documents are properly archived and accessible to teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Communication, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in the mechanical, engineering, or manufacturing industry.
- Experience writing technical manuals, SOPs, and engineering documentation.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of mechanical concepts and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience with documentation tools such as:
- Microsoft Word
- Technical documentation software
- Document management systems
- Basic knowledge of CAD tools (preferred but not mandatory).
