WE ARE HIRING | MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEER – EPC & FABRICATION Location: Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Employment Type: Full-time

Contract Duration: 6 months, extendable based on project requirements

Experience: 3–5 years

We are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to manage and coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication and project-execution activities.

This role is suitable for someone who can take responsibility for a project from understanding the engineering requirements through supplier coordination, material procurement, fabrication, site execution, quality checks, cost monitoring and progress reporting.

What Work Will You Be Expected to Do

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Understanding project requirements, engineering specifications and execution plans.
  • Coordinating with suppliers, vendors, subcontractors and internal technical teams.
  • Identifying suitable suppliers and supporting procurement activities.
  • Comparing quotations, negotiating with vendors and helping control project costs.
  • Planning material requirements, procurement schedules and project activities.
  • Coordinating engineering, fabrication, construction and site-execution work.
  • Working with project managers, architects, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Monitoring project milestones, delivery schedules and site progress.
  • Supporting quality inspections and ensuring work meets project specifications.
  • Preparing cost estimates, monitoring expenditure and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Reviewing drawings and coordinating engineering, procurement and construction documentation.
  • Preparing progress reports and highlighting delays, risks, material shortages or execution challenges.
  • Ensuring that project activities are properly coordinated and completed within the required timelines.
Critical Selection Criteria

Candidates should have:

  • B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical project execution, EPC, steel fabrication, porta cabin projects or similar engineering work.
  • Practical experience in project coordination, procurement and fabrication-related activities.
  • Ability to read and understand 2D engineering drawings.
  • Experience coordinating with suppliers, subcontractors, production teams and site personnel.
  • Understanding of material planning, cost estimation, budgeting and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and electrical components—preferred.
  • Strong organisational, coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel/Google Sheets and project-management tools.
  • Ability to monitor deadlines, quality, costs and project deliverables.
  • Clear communication skills and a hands-on approach to engineering-project execution.
Important

This is not a purely desk-based engineering role. The candidate should be comfortable coordinating with vendors, fabrication teams, project teams and site personnel, while taking ownership of execution, procurement, quality, cost and timelines.
