Selected Intern's Day-to-day Responsibilities Include
- Create and refine 3D CAD parts and assemblies in Fusion 360, leveraging parametric and surface-modeling tools.
- Apply GD&T principles, tolerance-stack analysis, and DFM guidelines to all designs
- Prepare, run, and post-process prototypes using FDM and SLA 3D-printing workflows.
- Perform DFMEA and tolerance-analysis exercises to identify and mitigate potential failure modes.
- Translate product requirements and user stories into detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, tooling specs, and RFQs.
- Collaborate in cross-functional design reviews with electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Liaise with external prototyping shops and injection-molding vendors - coordinate sample runs, review iterations, and refine tooling designs.
- Document design changes, maintain version control in Fusion Team, and present weekly progress updates.
- Communicate clearly in written reports and verbal presentations, while managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Define and iterate plastic-injection components - parting lines, draft angles, gate/runner layouts, and assess mold-flow results.
