About Antropi Robotics

Antropi Robotics is a Y Combinator-backed robotics startup (YC F26) building autonomous manufacturing systems for CNC factories. We combine industrial robotics, computer vision, CNC automation, and AI-powered factory software to make manufacturing more autonomous.

We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineering Intern who enjoys turning ideas into working hardware. You will design robotic mechanisms and machine components, build prototypes, create manufacturing-ready designs, and test your work on real factory-floor systems.

What You'll Do

  • Mechanical Design: Design components, assemblies, fixtures, and mechanisms for robotic systems and CNC automation.
  • CAD & Engineering Drawings: Create detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Prototyping & Testing: Build, assemble, test, and troubleshoot mechanical systems on real hardware.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with electronics and software engineers to integrate complete robotic systems.
  • Design Optimization: Improve designs for manufacturability, reliability, structural integrity, and ease of assembly.
  • Factory-Floor Execution: Iterate on designs based on real-world testing, manufacturing constraints, and system performance.

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field, with expected graduation in 2027.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
  • Strong understanding of machine design, mechanisms, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and 3D printing.
  • Ability to prototype, troubleshoot, and iterate quickly, moving from CAD models to functional hardware.
  • A practical, hands-on approach to solving engineering problems.

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on Hardware: Experience building, assembling, or testing robots, mechanisms, machines, or electromechanical systems.
  • Student Engineering Teams: Experience working in Formula Student, BAJA SAE, robotics teams, rocketry teams, or other student engineering project teams.
  • Robotics & Industrial Systems: Experience designing robotic mechanisms, automation equipment, fixtures, or industrial machinery.
  • Manufacturing & DFM: Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, design for manufacturing (DFM), and design for assembly (DFA).
  • Engineering Analysis: Exposure to FEA or basic structural analysis tools.
  • Personal Projects: Experience building hardware prototypes, participating in maker projects, or working on hardware hackathons.

Why Join Antropi Robotics

  • Build Real Robots: Work on robotics and CNC automation systems deployed in active factory environments.
  • Own End-to-End Projects: Take designs from concept and CAD to fabrication, assembly, testing, and deployment.
  • Work Directly with Founders: Collaborate closely with the founding team and contribute to important engineering decisions.
  • Learn by Building: Work across mechanical, electronics, and software disciplines to solve real manufacturing challenges.
  • Make a Tangible Impact: See your designs move beyond simulations and prototypes into real-world industrial applications.
  • If you enjoy designing, building, and improving real hardware, we'd love to hear from you.
