WETS Deposition group at Lam India Global Hardware Technology (LIGHT) is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its New Product Development engineering team.
Job Summary
We are looking for a strong Mechanical Engineer to join the WETS New Product Development (NPD) team. This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, the ability to independently solve mechanical engineering problems, and experience with OEM fluid and pneumatic components and plastic materials.
The engineer is expected to design subsystems from concept through qualification using minimum guidance, proactively manage technical risks using FMEA and structured problem‑solving methods, and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including Product Support and Supply Chain to ensure robust, production‑ready solutions.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop mechanical subsystems for Semiconductor Wafer Fabrication tools for NPD, CIP and Sustanence
- Apply engineering first principles to solve mechanical engineering problems
- Perform OEM component selection eg: valves, regulators, fittings, tubing, and sensors
- Design components using sheet metal, metals, plastic and polymer materials for wet and chemical environments
- Collaborate with CFTs such as Product Support, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Systems teams
- Execute medium complex subsystem designs from concept through qualification and release
- Support prototype build, testing, debugging, and qualification activities
- Maintain clear documentation of designs, calculations, risks, and decisions
Minimum Qualifications
Who we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2 - 5 years of experience; or Master's degree up to 3 years; or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
- Highly proficient in 3D CAD tools such as CREO, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, and others.
- Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills
Core Competencies
- Strong foundation in any one mechanical engineering domain (Structural/fluid/thermal)
- Ability to independently solve medium complex engineering problems
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and first principles
- Understanding of OEM fluid and pneumatic component selection
- Exposure to plastic, sheet metal and chemical‑compatible designs
- Exposure to FMEA and reliability principles

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. On-site Flex you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. Virtual Flex you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
