Job Purpose:
To execute and supervise all mechanical engineering, installation, and integration activities for the PMR section of Smelter 5, including equipment used for decanting, filtration, leaching, electrowinning, refining, and bullion handling, ensuring compliance with approved designs, safety norms, and project schedules. The role is responsible for translating mechanical deliverables into reliable, safe, and operable systems by coordinating with process teams, EPCM, vendors, and site contractors to enable smooth commissioning and optimized recovery of precious metals (Au, Ag, PGMs).
. Implement approved mechanical layouts, GA drawings, piping designs, and equipment installation schematics for PMR process areas covering decanting, filtration, leaching, electrowinning, refining, and bullion handling. . Validate mechanical interfaces with PMR process PFDs and P&IDs to ensure correct flow paths, retention times, and containment of highvalue streams. . Ensure mechanical execution supports both batch and continuous PMR process steps safely and reliably.
. Support finalization and execution readiness of mechanical equipment specifications for decanters, filter presses, leach reactors, agitators, EW cells, bullion furnaces, dryers, tanks, and associated auxiliaries. . Participate in technical discussions, bid evaluations, vendor clarifications, FATs, and inspection activities for specialized PMR equipment sourced from niche global vendors. . Monitor equipment fabrication progress, material of construction compliance, and readiness for site installation.
. Supervise mechanical installation activities including reactors, tanks, structural supports, piping systems, agitators, EW cells, furnaces, dryers, and materialhandling equipment for PMR facilities. . Ensure correct alignment, leveling, fastening, gasket integrity, and leakfree assembly of equipment handling precious metalbearing solutions. . Coordinate with civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure readiness of foundations, utilities, ventilation, and access clearances.
. Ensure integration of mechanical systems with utilities such as compressed air, cooling water, hot water, exhaust systems, and ventilation. . Coordinate refractory linings, insulation systems, and thermal protection for bullion furnaces and dryers in line with approved designs. . Validate mechanical readiness for heatup, expansion movement, and thermal cycling of PMR hightemperature units.
. Support mechanical precommissioning activities including flushing, pressure testing, rotations, agitation trials, and mechanical completion checks. . Assist commissioning of batch leaching reactors and continuous filtration/electrowinning systems running in parallel. . Support trial runs and rampup activities to ensure stable, leakagefree, and reliable mechanical performance during precious metal recovery trials.
. Implement mechanical safety procedures for handling toxic chemicals, highvalue materials, confined spaces, lifting operations, and rotating equipment. . Ensure mechanical systems related to effluent containment, scrubbers, gas absorbers, and spill control meet environmental and safety norms. . Participate in HAZOPs, risk assessments, safety audits, and incidentprevention initiatives for PMR areas.
. Coordinate mechanical interfaces with upstream units (Refinery, Anode Slime Treatment) to ensure smooth transfer and containment of intermediate products. . Ensure seamless mechanical integration with downstream bullion handling, security, and material transfer systems. . Resolve executionlevel interface issues impacting PMR continuity or metal accountability.
. Track mechanical execution progress against PMR project schedules and commissioning milestones. . Monitor contractor performance, installed quantities, and compliance with BOQs and specifications. . Support identification of valueengineering or constructability improvements without compromising safety or recovery efficiency.
. Compile mechanical QA/QC records, commissioning checklists, punchlist closures, equipment dossiers, and asbuilt drawings. . Ensure vendor manuals, maintenance instructions, and spare lists are complete and handed over to O&M teams. . Support joint inspections and smooth mechanical handover postcommissioning.
