Mechanical Draughtsman

The ideal candidate will have a solid drafting foundation from a mechanical engineering background, with hands-on experience in an industrial equipment or automation company. They will be comfortable translating verbal or written engineering briefs into accurate, detailed CAD drawings, and will demonstrate a methodical, detail-oriented approach — managing multiple drawing packages simultaneously without compromising precision.

They will take ownership of their work rather than waiting to be directed, and will communicate clearly with engineers and project teams, including international stakeholders.

Responsibilities

1. Receive and interpret project briefs and technical requirements from the Sales team.
2. Prepare General Arrangement (GA) and layout drawings using SolidEdge (3D) and AutoCAD (2D)
3. Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) as required
4. Select and specify bought-out components (motors, gearboxes, sensors, pneumatic elements, structural members) appropriate to the application
5. Create and maintain drawing registers, revision histories, and document control records
6. Incorporate feedback from engineering and customer reviews into revised drawing sets
7. Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and controls teams to ensure drawing accuracy and cross-discipline alignment
8. Support proposal preparation by providing dimensional layouts and BOM inputs for costing
9. Ensure all drawings comply with applicable standards (IS, ASME, or customer-specified)
10. Maintain a clean and organised CAD library — parts, assemblies, and templates

Educational Qualification

• DME (Diploma in Mechanical Engineering), B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, or ITI with strong industry experience

Technical Skills — Mandatory

• SolidEdge (3D modelling and assembly)
• 2D CAD (AutoCAD or equivalent)
• PFD and P&ID preparation
• Knowledge of bought-out components — selection, sourcing familiarity, and application

Technical Skills — Preferred

• Exposure to robotic systems, conveyors, EOAT, palletizers, or material handling equipment
• Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Basic understanding of BOM preparation and drawing-to-cost linkage

Soft Skills

• Strong attention to detail and spatial reasoning
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Clear written and verbal communication, with comfort working alongside international project teams
• Organised and disciplined approach to document management
