Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with 3+ years of experience in designing automation equipment, robotic systems, Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), and machine components. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing innovative design concepts, creating detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings, selecting mechanical components, and supporting projects throughout the product development lifecycle. This role requires strong expertise in mechanism design, motion systems, and CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Creo, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical concepts for robotic and automation applications.
- Design EOATs, grippers, fixtures, machine structures, and automation workstations.
- Create 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks or Creo.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and component selection.
- Design and integrate motion systems, including linear guides, actuators, gearboxes, bearings, and pneumatic components.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Support prototype development, assembly, testing, validation, and commissioning activities.
- Prepare engineering documentation, including BOMs, design specifications, and assembly manuals.
- Participate in design reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, engineering standards, and safety regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- B.Tech/B.E in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3 to 6 Years of experience in mechanical design /automation equipment /robotics /SPMs /Machine tool design.
- Strong expertise in Mechanism Design, Machine design, and motion systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo.
- Experience in developing detailed manufacturing drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
- Sound knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience in component selection, including bearings, linear guides, actuators, gearboxes, and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations and basic structural analysis.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, electrical, controls, and project engineering.
- Knowledge of PDM/PLM systems and engineering change management processes is an added advantage.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication, teamwork, and project coordination abilities.
- Understanding of quality standards, safety requirements, and engineering best practices.
