Role Description The Mechanical Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Puducherry. The engineer will design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for automation systems and products, from concept through detailed design and prototyping. Daily tasks include creating 3D models and engineering drawings, performing basic calculations and tolerance analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical, controls, and software systems. The role involves supporting manufacturing and assembly with design clarifications, participating in design reviews, and contributing to continuous improvement of existing products. The engineer will also assist in testing, documentation, and ensuring designs meet safety, performance, and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical design skills with proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and creation of detailed engineering drawings.
  • Experience in designing mechanisms, sheet metal parts, machined components, and assemblies for automation or industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, including materials selection, tolerance analysis, manufacturing processes, and mechanical calculations.
  • Ability to collaborate with electrical, controls, and software engineers to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Familiarity with product development lifecycles, prototyping, testing, and design validation in an R&D or engineering environment.
  • Good documentation skills for design reports, BOMs, test results, and technical specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capability to work on-site in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; prior experience in automation, robotics, or industrial machinery is an advantage.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work in diverse, cross-functional teams.
