Job Summary

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Sea6 Energy, you will be responsible for designing, modelling, and supporting the development of innovative mechanical systems for seaweed farming. The role involves extensive CAD work, preparation of detailed manufacturing drawings, and hands-on troubleshooting during assembly and testing.

You will collaborate closely with the engineering and manufacturing teams to rapidly iterate and deliver reliable equipment in a dynamic startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings of mechanical systems, assemblies, and components.
• Work hands-on during prototyping, assembly, and testing; troubleshoot and resolve design or fitment issues quickly.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
• Make design improvements based on shop floor/field feedback and ensure quick implementation of changes.
• Perform engineering calculations and checks for structural integrity, safety, and reliability.
• Maintain design documentation, revision records, and assembly notes.
• Contribute to rapid prototyping and continuous improvement of equipment in line with startup timelines.
• Work with senior engineers to ensure projects are completed on time and meet functional requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in mechanical design, CAD modelling, and troubleshooting in product development or machinery design.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent tools.
• Good understanding of materials, machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
• Hands-on, proactive, and passionate about working in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for field trials and equipment deployment.
