We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong expertise in sheet metal design to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication processes and proficiency in SolidWorks to create high-quality, manufacturable designs for our medical devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop sheet metal components and assemblies for medical devices using SolidWorks.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs adhering to industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, and quality) to ensure design feasibility and compliance with medical device standards.
- Apply knowledge of sheet metal cutting, bending, forming, welding, and hardware selection in the design process.
- Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, and DFMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) studies.
- Work closely with vendors to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality of sheet metal parts.
- Perform design modifications, prototyping, and testing to validate designs.
- Maintain proper documentation as per ISO and medical device regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- 2–5 years of experience in mechanical design (preferably in sheet metal parts and assemblies).
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (Sheet Metal, Weldments, and Assembly modules).
- Solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes – cutting, bending, laser cutting, punching, forming, and welding.
- Experience in selecting and designing with mechanical fasteners, hinges, latches, and hardware.
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and engineering standards.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Exposure to medical devices or regulated industries (preferred but not mandatory).
