Role Summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, modifying, and improving

crushing and screening equipment such as jaw crushers, cone crushers, screens, feeders, and

material handling components. The role requires strong 3D modeling skills, understanding of

machine elements, and exposure to heavy equipment manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings for crushing

and screening equipment.

Work on design and improvement of jaw crushers, cone crushers, VSI, HSI, feeders,

screens, and related structural components.

Perform design calculations related to machine elements, strength of materials, shaft

design, bearing selection, belt drive, gear drive, and structural design.

Prepare detailed BOMs, fabrication drawings, and assembly documentation.

Coordinate with production, quality, purchase, teams to ensure manufacturability and

cost optimization.

Perform tolerance analysis, GD&T, fitment checks, and documentation per engineering

standards.

Collaborate with testing team for prototype trials, performance evaluation, and design

corrections.

Support Value Engineering (VE) and Design Improvement (DI) activities to enhance

performance and reduce cost.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality standards, and internal design

procedures.

Use PDM/PLM systems for revision control, data management, and document

traceability.

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and heavy machine components.

Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (Creo / Inventor) and AutoCAD for 2D drafting.

Good understanding of welded structures, fabrication, sheet metal, and machined

parts.

Knowledge of crushing and screening process flow, material characteristics, and plant

layouts (advantage).

Ability to read and interpret international engineering standards.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Desirable (Added Advantage)

Experience specifically in mining equipment, crushing plant design, or bulk material

handling.

Hands-on exposure to FEA, static analysis, or structural analysis.
