About the Role:
We are hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in column internals and separation products to support the launch and growth of our new engineering office in India, working closely with our global teams in Houston (USA) and Mexico.
This role will initially focus on offloading engineering and design work from established offices, with a clear roadmap toward building a fully independent engineering center in India. The position offers strong exposure to international projects, complex process equipment, and future technical leadership opportunities.
What You'll Work On:
You will be responsible for robust, code-compliant mechanical designs for engineered products used in the oil, gas, petrochemical, and process industries, including:
• Mass Transfer Equipment (trays, column internals)
• Separation Equipment (mist eliminators, inlet devices)
• Wedge Wire Products (outlet baskets, support grids)
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical & Structural Engineering:
• Review customer specifications, mechanical design requirements, and scope of work for quotations and executed projects.
• Perform mechanical and structural design calculations including beam, column, flat plate, and support structure analysis.
• Optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
• Prepare and review 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Develop installation manuals and provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
• Identify technical risks early and implement solutions
Global Coordination & Project Support:
• Coordinate with Sales, Project Managers, and Application Engineers.
• Work with Houston/Mexico engineering and fabrication teams to resolve design clarifications.
• Ensure all technical deliverables are complete and aligned with project timelines.
Team Development:
• Assign and review work performed by Mechanical Designers and Draftsmen.
• Mentor junior engineers and support professional development.
• Support performance reviews as the team scales.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Strong mechanical aptitude and 3D visualization skills.
• Knowledge of mechanics of materials, material science, and fluid mechanics.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (mandatory).
• Sheet metal experience in SolidWorks preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel within India and internationally.
• FEA / SolidWorks Simulation / CFD experience is a plus but not necessary .
• Programming exposure (Python, VBA, Java) is a plus but not necessary.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in a metal-working or fabrication environment.
• Experience with vessels, columns, or process equipment internals is required.
