About This Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design & Development Engineer who thrives on owning projects end-to-end from ideation to deployment. You will be part of a team developing cutting-edge defence technologies, contributing to experimental design, prototyping, testing, and creating advanced mechanical solutions for challenging real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the entire product development cyclefrom initial concept to final deployment.
- Ideate and generate innovative product concepts based on user (Armed Forces) inputs.
- Design, develop, and refine mechanical systems and components for advanced defence products.
- Conduct experimental design and create rapid prototypes for testing and validation.
- Perform rigorous testing and validation of prototypes to ensure performance, durability, and safety compliance.
- Research and apply cutting-edge materials, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies to optimize designs.
- Produce detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and simulations using CAD and FEA tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electronics, software, manufacturing) to ensure seamless integration.
Requirements
Must-Haves:
- 25 years of experience in mechanical product design and development, preferably in defence or related industries.
- Expertise in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB).
- Strong knowledge of materials science, tolerances, and manufacturing processes like machining, casting, 3D printing, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Proven experience in experimental prototyping and conducting rigorous tests to validate designs.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a hands-on approach.
- Demonstrated ability to own projects and take responsibility for delivering results under tight deadlines.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with defence systems or similar mission-critical products.
- Knowledge of mechanical-electrical system integration (e.g., actuators, sensors, motors).
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
