Mechanical CAD Design Engineer – Solar & IoT Systems (m/f/d)

HEI Technology India Pvt. Ltd., based at ASPIRE – IIT Bombay Research Park, is the Indian R&D and innovation subsidiary of HEI Technology International GmbH (Austria). As we expand our development capabilities, we are looking for a:

Mechanical CAD Design Engineer (m/f/d)

YOUR ROLE

You will take ownership of mechanical design development for key product elements within our solar and IoT infrastructure systems. This role requires hands-on experience in developing production-ready designs, with a strong focus on precision, manufacturability, and documentation.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams across India and Europe to translate concepts into robust engineering outputs.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
  • Design and optimize cable harness layouts, routing, and integration within assemblies
  • Create and maintain pole/mast designs, structural assemblies, and installation drawings
  • Generate complete engineering documentation including BoMs, part drawings, and assembly instructions
  • Ensure designs are aligned with DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing constraints
  • Coordinate with electrical and system teams for integrated product development
  • Support prototyping, validation, and iterative design improvements
  • Maintain structured documentation and revision control systems
  • Work towards minimizing errors, rework, and ambiguity in drawings

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 4–6 years of hands-on CAD design experience in mechanical product development
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling + 2D drafting)
  • Proven experience in:
  • Cable harness design and routing
  • Structural/pole or sheet metal assemblies
  • Manufacturing drawings with clear tolerancing
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, machining, fabrication, plastics)
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, BoM structuring, and engineering documentation standards
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and ownership mindset
  • Strong problem-solving approach and practical engineering judgment
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
