Mechanical CAD & Automation Intern

Role Description

The intern will be involved in developing detailed 3D CAD models, complex assemblies, mechanisms, structures, and engineering concepts, as well as creating motion studies, kinematic simulations, and technical animations to demonstrate the operation of mechanical systems such as smart factories, automated manufacturing systems, robotic systems, bridge/deck mechanisms, and other large-scale engineering structures. The candidate will also have the opportunity to explore and implement AI-assisted CAD, design automation, parametric modelling, and engineering visualisation workflows to improve the speed and efficiency of engineering development.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.Tech/B.E. or M.Tech/M.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience with 3D CAD modelling, preferably using SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, assemblies, mechanisms, and engineering fundamentals, with the ability to convert concepts into detailed CAD models.
• Experience with motion studies, kinematic simulations, mechanism analysis, or engineering animations is highly preferred.
• Ability to create complex assemblies, detailed engineering drawings, and manufacturing-ready designs, with basic understanding of GD&T and DFM.
• Strong interest in automation, robotics, and mechanical systems, with the ability to understand how mechanical systems operate and interact.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted CAD/design tools, parametric modelling, CAD automation, Python, or other scripting/programming will be an advantage.
• Strong visualization, problem-solving, attention to detail, and willingness to work hands-on with engineers to develop and improve real engineering systems.
