Job Description

Industry & Sector: Healthcare Hospital & Clinical Services. A clinical care organisation delivering inpatient and outpatient medical services across adult medicine, acute care, and chronic disease management in India. We are expanding our on-site physician team to strengthen clinical excellence, patient outcomes, and multidisciplinary care pathways.

Position: Consultant Physician (MD - Medicine)

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality on-site clinical care for adult inpatients and outpatients: assess, diagnose, manage, and document medical conditions across general and acute medicine.
  • Lead daily ward rounds, coordinate admissions and discharges, and ensure timely clinical handovers to maintain patient safety and continuity of care.
  • Manage acute and emergency presentations in collaboration with emergency and critical-care teams; perform initial stabilization and escalate when necessary.
  • Perform essential bedside procedures (e.g., thoracentesis, paracentesis, vascular access) and interpret routine investigations including ECGs, blood gases, and basic imaging.
  • Drive evidence-based prescribing, participate in antimicrobial stewardship, and contribute to minimising adverse drug events.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary case discussions, mentor junior medical staff, and contribute to quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • MD (Medicine) degree with active registration in the National Medical Commission (NMC) or relevant State Medical Council.
  • Minimum 25 years post-MD clinical experience in internal/ general medicine or hospital medicine (adjustable by hiring level).
  • Proven competence in inpatient management, acute care, and common internal medicine procedures.
  • Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient counselling, family updates, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Preferred

  • Experience in tertiary/ multi-specialty hospital settings or participation in clinical governance and quality-improvement projects.
  • Additional certifications in ACLS/BLS or short courses in critical-care/acute medicine.
  • Comfort with guideline-driven management, antimicrobial stewardship, and use of point-of-care diagnostics.
