About The Opportunity
Healthcare Tertiary care hospital and clinical consultancy sector serving adult medicine patients across inpatient and outpatient settings in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Role: Internal Medicine Consultant (On-site, Vellore, Tamil Nadu)
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient adult medical careassess, diagnose, and manage acute, chronic, and complex medical conditions with evidence-based treatment plans.
- Lead and conduct daily ward rounds; coordinate multidisciplinary teams (nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy, specialists) to ensure integrated patient care and timely discharge planning.
- Respond to medical emergencies and lead resuscitation efforts; stabilize critically ill patients and initiate appropriate escalation to higher-level care when necessary.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging; implement and adjust treatment based on results and clinical progress, ensuring safe prescribing and medication reconciliation.
- Drive clinical governance: participate in audits, protocol development, morbidity & mortality reviews, and quality-improvement initiatives to raise standards of care.
- Mentor and supervise junior doctors and trainees, contribute to continuous medical education sessions, and maintain accurate clinical documentation in the hospital information system.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MD or DNB in Internal Medicine
- Valid registration with the National Medical Commission or relevant State Medical Council
- Minimum 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience in Internal Medicine, including acute care exposure
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Proven ability in inpatient and outpatient clinical management and EMR-based documentation
- Strong record of clinical decision-making, acute medical stabilization, and multidisciplinary coordination
Preferred
- Fellowship or diploma in Critical Care, Geriatric Medicine, or related subspecialty
- Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) certification or competency
- Experience in a tertiary-care teaching hospital with involvement in teaching, audits, or publications
